New Forest Coppicing Course

Pondhead Conservation Trust.

Sami Blastock, a Beaulieu Parish Councillor, recently attended the New Forest Coppicing Course   with the New Forest Land Advice Service.

The aim here was to restore hazel coppice, woodland understory and ride network of the enclosure- in order to improve its biodiversity and enhance public enjoyment of this unique area of new forest woodland.

It has not been grazed for several centuries, therefore unique, also resulting in a rich variety of flora, butterflies and birds which are found in few other places locally.

It also contains the largest area of hazel coppice remaining on the Crown land of the New Forest. In total 193 acres.

The Parish Council thanks Sami for attending this course on our behalf.
