Natural England’s consultation with the Beaulieu Estate over the route of the coastal path is continuing. Their priority remains the protection of nature conservation interests across the estate, as well as the privacy of residents and the operation of any businesses which may be affected. To better inform Natural England’s thinking, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust working Beaulieu, Exbury and Cadland Estates, commissioned a study into the effects of public access on nesting birds, overwintering birds and flora. The findings have been presented to NE who are still holding meetings with local residents and land owners.

The Beaulieu Estate are also working with NE on a salt marsh survey of the Solent Maritime Special Area of Conservation. Work to classify and map salt marsh zones and their habitats will be taking place during August and September.
