Defib

The Parish Council are currently in the process of installing a defibrillator into the village which has been generously funded by the British Heart Foundation and the Beaulieu Beaufort Foundation. The cabinet to house the defibrillator has already been put up in the covered passage between the High Street and the Village Hall as can be seen in the picture. The devise itself will be installed on January 15th 2015 after a training session on its use has been run by an officer from the South Central Ambulance Service.  This training session will be held on January 15th at 4.30pm in the Village Hall and if anyone from the village would like to take part please get in touch with Sara Steele on 01590 612 216 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. To date there are first aiders from The Village School, Fairweathers Garden Centre, The Montagu Arms, New Forest Activities and the Estate signed up to be trained. The Parish Council are keen that as many people as possible in the village are familiar with its use, so don’t be shy in coming forward!  The defibrillator is designed to be used by lay people with no medical experience and has very clear simple audio instructions. Also, importantly, it is designed to only shock a patient if they need it and so it is not possible to do any damage to someone with suspected cardiac arrest or yourself.   If anyone would like any further information on the defibrillator and its use please contact Sara Steele as above.
